About the Author

Hi, I’m Anna. I’m a New Zealand import in Perth, Australia, where I live with Meerkat Kit. I enjoy writing to entertain. My goal (in a caring way) is to make you snort your chosen beverage out of your nose, and perhaps to see the world from a different (shorter and furrier) perspective. My idols and influences include Marian Keyes, A.A. Milne (obviously), Gerald Durrell, Bill Bryson and Douglas Adams. Some time last century, I completed a degree in English. It is time I finally put it to good use.

A few years ago, if you had told me that I would one day be the adoptive parent of a stuffed meerkat, I would have thought you were a bit peculiar in the head. If you had added that I would be the writer of a blog about him, I would have been convinced that you were in the grip of a psychotic episode.

I have been many things, a librarian, an archaeologist, a docent at Perth Zoo, and rather often, in between all that, a university student. But I never seriously entertained the idea of being a parent. Childbirth, changing nappies, and all of that having to feed children at regular intervals to keep them alive, was definitely not for me!

Nevertheless a few years ago, I adopted Meerkat Kit, and life changed for the better. He is my muse, my mouthpiece, and a counterpoint to my own ideas. Perhaps it is I who is in the grip of a psychotic episode! I hope you enjoy the fruits of it as much as I do.
